How Heels Should Be Done In Wrestling

Heels are the backbone of Wrestling and are arguably some of the best characters the buisness has to offer. Tommaso Ciampa, Triple H and Mr McMahon are some of the best I. WWE but what made them so good. The key is the three main stages of being a heel and each one is necessary for a heel to be the most hateable and annoying person ever.
The Introduction:
Whether it be a debut or a heel turn, the next introduction of a heel character is very important. The basics for the introduction of a heel character is to do something absolutely horrible detestable and then either cut a promo or leave and start ranting on social media. The promo should center around why you did what you did and must feature you saying that the crowd should have expected this. This paired with great acting really makes hate you and whilst the promo formula can be modified it should be modified with caution as for example saying you did for the crowd and make it seem like you're face doesn't help you get over as a heel.
The establishment:
The establishment of a heel can be done through promos, matches and overall presentation . The promos that should be used for the establishment of a heel should focus on getting the crowd to boo you as much as possible whilst also conveying a point. To get the crowd to boo you do things like insulting the local sports teams or say that the rival to the country or town is better. The point should focus on you saying that you're the best in the world and how your rival is bad. A match is harder at establishing a heel character but if you use dirty tactics like eye pokes and push the rules to the point of almost being DQed . Your in ring style should change when you're a heel but not to the point of you wrestling like different person, you're basic moves like finishers should be the same but with changes to make them seem more brutal. Stomping on your opponent excessively is also a great way to convey yourself as a heel. When it comes to overall presentation I refer to things like attire and entrances. Heel attires should have darker colours and if you want to you can grow a beard so as to make you look more broken and deranged. Entrances should feature you pushing the crowd around and shouting at them so as to get them to boo you more.
The rivalries:
Rivalries are key to pulling off a great heel character. First things first the rivalry should feel personal. Having a tension that feels real is great for a heel especially when in the early stages of a run. To do this some skills are required like good acting alongside an understanding of basic cinematography. These are key for the promos that are necessary for a more personal rivalry. Pre recorded promos should convey an emotion of anger and yet loss, to do this having filters that darken the scene are great but the acting is what makes it. A lot of the recent promos from Jimmy Havoc in Progress are quite good at this so I recommend you check them out to see what I mean. Live promos need to show real anger and to do this shouting and swearing are good. Face offs should have that emotion of anger but also have a real sense of emotion in fact there is scene from the show This Is England that does this so well at the start and then instantly change to being more sad and depressing, the scene is when the character Combo Attacks the character Milky and I highly recommend watching it. Finally the match at the end of the rivalry should have you underestimate the opponent but still fight back. Being overconfident in a match is great for a heel character and really makes it persist throughout the match.

So overall, heel characters can easily be done by focussing on each stage as it comes by. Any way the final instalment of the WoWB week special is tomorrow and will be uploaded earlier than normal so stay tuned.
