Raw 13th August 2018 Review

Raw 13th August 2018 Review

Raw opened with a heart felt promo from Ronda Rousey about the passing of Jim the anvil Neidhart, she talked about how our fathers raise us up to be the pillars of our families. The promo then moved on to how she will beat Alexa Bliss at Summerslam, then she explained that Ember Moon will replace Natalya in a match with Alexa Bliss. Bliss then came out and cut a small promo, then her bodyguards came out. Yes she had bodyguards, they were given to her by Constable Corbin. The match then started and it some good action, the dynamic of having Ronda at ringside contestantly attacking Alicia Fox and distracting  mixed well with the in ring work from Ember and Alexa. Whilst the match was a bit boring at first things soon picked up to form a good and entertaining match, 3 stars.
Then there was a small in ring segment between Dolph and Angle that help build hype to the contract signing later on in the show. Following this was a match between Corbin and Breeze, it wasn't too good and felt more like a card filer, it made me miss Tyler's run in NXT where he was actually used well and put on good matches. 1 star.
This moved to Corbin anouncing a handicap match between Bàlor and the team of Jinder Mahal and Kevin Owens, only for angle to come out and make it a tag team match by adding Braun. The match was depressing, it mostly had rest holds and when action did pick up it was only for a short amount of time. It seems like Bàlor, Strawmon and Owens are saving them selves for Summerslam but there's no excuse for Mahal, I guess he's lost all hope in becoming a good wrestler and so has lost any passion for the art. 1.5 stars
Following this was another short Dolph segment with angle that helped build even more hype for the later segment. Following this an entertaining segment took place featuring Elias and his biggest fan Ricky Roberts alongside Bobby Lashley. In the end Roberts attacked Lashely only to receive a weird looking chockeslam that I thought was a spinebuster for some reason. Following this was a short B team backstage segment that built to the following triple threat tag match. The triple threat tag team match I found quite enjoyable and had some good spots, this match helped to proof the Raw tag division is more than a joke which is good especially considering that Ambrose is back so the shield can challenge for the titles again. Overall I rate the match 2.75 stars.
Following Reigns gave a promo, then Heyman came out and offered Reigns a chance at becoming the next Paul Heyman guy. Roman took the contract only to be pepper sprayed by Heyman and then Lesnar came out and chocked Reigns out. This segment killed any momentum the match had by getting rid of any hope of Heyman doing a big betrayal on Brock.
The following match was the last match on the show which made it the main event match and Jesus was that a bad mistake. The match was a throw away tag match between Bayley and Sasha and the Riott Squad. The match felt like a training match featuring 4 rookies trying to go at it. I give 1 star. Following this was a short backstage segment that built more tension between Angle and Corbin.
The opening to the contract signing was a promo by Drew and  Dolph that was great and helped get both men over as legitimate heels. Then Rollins came out and revealed the man who would be in his corner at Summerslam. DEAN BLOODY AMBROSE then made his shock return whilst looking like an actual thug and things escalated to a fight. Overall I rate this Monday Night Raw 2.75 stars, the wrestling wasn't the best but he promos were great and allowed for a decent go home show before Summerslam
